When Jesus turned the tables in the Temple, he took a stand against the ways in which religious leaders colluded with the political powers of the day. Now we are urging religious leaders to take a stand against the political and corporate powers that promote unsustainable dependence on fossil fuels by divesting from fossil fuel companies and reinvesting in clean energy.
We believe there are better ways for religious institutions to invest their resources than by putting their money to work in the fossil fuel industry. For this Table Turning Monday, we invite you and your faith community to learn about and call for institutional divestment from fossil fuels and reinvestment in clean energy. Resources are courtesy of Valley and Mountain, Fossil Free UMC and GreenFaith’s Divest and Reinvest Now program.
